Karen Wentworth has been teaching the Alexander Technique full-time for over 30 years.

Karen has worked on many teacher training courses, and continues to be a guest teacher on many courses. She gives workshops to teachers internationally, and conducts advanced post-graduate training groups for teachers.

Karen trained as a teacher of the Technique from 1973 to 1977 with Walter and Dilys Carrington at the Constructive Teaching Centre, London. Karen has run short courses in the Technique at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 1977–80. She was Director of the Aalborg Teacher Training Course, Denmark, 1984-87. She taught the Technique for several years at the Drama Studio, ALRA, Guildhall School of Music and the London Theatre School. Since 1983 she has been a senior guest teacher at the Constructive Teaching Centre.

Prior to teaching the Alexander Technique Karen had an illustrious career as a professional dancer and actress, from 1953 until 1973.

Karen was a child prodigy. She studied at the Julliard School of Music-Dance Department 1956–59. She studied dance with Martha Graham, Josè Limon and Anthony Tudor, and has been a member of numerous dance companies. She studied acting with Tamara Daykarhanova (Moscow Arts Theatre), Sandford Meisner, Stella Adler and studied voice work with Kristin Linklater.

Karen has been a member of many theatre companies, including La Mama and The New York Shakespeare in the Park. Among the people she has acted with are Irene Pappas, Christopher Walken, Shelley Winters, and Roy Scheider.
